While treating Eli (MATT DOHERTY - "The Mighty Ducks" films), a 16-year-old auto accident victim, Cleo realizes that the boy's small bowel may be perforated. She wants Corday to do exploratory surgery, but Corday disagrees with the tentative diagnosis. Cleo enlists Benton to do the surgery instead. When Corday finds out, she becomes furious at both Benton and Cleo. After punishing Benton by performing the surgery herself, Corday tells Cleo that the boy had no abdominal injuries.

Abby administers to Lynn Parker (KERRI LEE GREEN), an exhausted mother of five small children, who fainted in a grocery store. When tests confirm Lynn's pregnancy, Abby concludes Lynn is starving herself in order to induce a miscarriage. Abby suggests an abortion. Lynn undergoes the procedure but doesn't want her husband to know.

With Weaver on suspension, an overworked Kovac initially suspects his patient, Rick Simpson (DAN LAURIA - "The Wonder Years"), suffers from an anxiety disorder, but tests reveal he has leukemia. Later, Kovac shows Hathaway a tattered photo of his deceased wife and daughter.

Carter shoves Chen out of the way and takes over when he believes Chen fails to intubate a patient fast enough. Carter sadly discovers that Lucy got accepted as a resident to the psychiatry program at County General.

Greene's apartment resembles a hospital room as his father's health rapidly deteriorates. A hired nurse cares for Greene's dad when Greene is at work. Greene lovingly administers to his father, but David hates being a burden to his son.
