Ozzy and Drix follows the white blood cell cop Osmosis Jones on his latest adventure, protecting the health and happiness of his new home… 13 year old Hector Cruz.
Just like all junior high schoolers, Hector is going through a tough time. His life is filled with potential embarrassment and awkwardness as his body gores through changes. Thank God he has Osmosis inside. Like a little guardian angel, Ozzy is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Hector healthy and on the right track.
Ozzy (Osmosis Jones) His full name is Osmosis Jones but his friends call him Ozzy. And if you ask him he’ll tell you he’s the baddest white blood cell in the body. Even though he’s microscopic in size he’s tough enough to inoculate any virus or sorry piece of cytoplasm that threatens the health of the most important thing is his life: Hector.
Drix Drix is an over-the-counter cold tablet and is large compared to Ozzy and other cells. He grew up in a petri dish at an Ivy League University and is a bit sheltered when it comes to “everyday living” like dancing, clothes, and music, etc. As each day passes, Ozzy clues him in on what is cool and what is not. Drix spends his time as Ozzy’s partner in the private-eye agency looking out for Hector.
Ellen Patella Ellen is a lady lawyer with the firm of Tarsus, Sternum and Patella. Ellen is Ozzy’s main love interest and one of his few allies who has access to the Mayor and other government agencies. While the rest of the body only thinks about itself, Ellen and Ozzy both approach the city’s problems from the perspective of “What’s best for Hector.” No matter what their differences of opinion on other matters, they can always agree to put Hector’s best interest first.
Mayor Paul Spryman Mayor Spryman, a teenager himself, is the elected leader of the City of Hector. He likes Hector just the way he is and doesn’t see much of a reason to change. He has childish ideas of what is good for the body. He likes bon-bons over toothpaste and sports over studying.
Lockjaw Lockjaw is a tetanus virus who was injected into Hector’s body 13 years ago. Since then he’s done nothing but sit around and wait or Hector to step on a rusty nail. Being a strain of the tetanus booster shot, Lockjaw is still considered a virus, so life isn’t easy for him in the City of Hector. He’s looked down upon as a lowlife who can’t be trusted. However, he befriends Ozzy since he’s an outsider too. Soon Lockjaw becomes Ozzy’s regular informant.
Metabolica Metabolica is a struggling garage band made up of a small group of musically inclined germs. Having yet to be discovered, they spend most of their days performing their tunes on street corners and at smalltime events. Sometimes acting like a Greek chorus, this group of young rockers never fails to remind Ozzy that he’s in the body of a 13 year old.
Hector Cruz Hector is just like every other normal 13 year old. He’s discovering girls and he’s extremely curious. Just like every other kid his age, he’s constantly walking the tightrope between cool and outcast. It’s not that Hector’s problems are any different or greater than any other teenage boy’s; it’s just that when these problems are approached from the cellular level they take on a magnificent scope. Hector is at that awkward time in his life, as he’s changing from boy to man. Thank goodness he has Ozzy to help him make the transition.
