The West Wing has won an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series every season it has been on the air, which totals four awards in that category. Besides Outstanding Drama Series, during its second season, the program was nominated for a record breaking total of 18 Emmy nominations, winning in eight categories including: Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series as well as the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Bradley Whitford and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Allison Janney.
